So, I bought a pair of tail lights for my Nova. One is fine, but the other one is spray tinted. Anyone know what I could use to get it off? It looks like garbage. I've tried Autosol glass polish to no avail, as well as a heat gun, but that melted it in a certain part and I stopped at that point.

Would thinner do? I've tried brake cleaner as some sources have said, but it didn't work.

Hmm, I'll see if I have any laying around. Thanks mate.

I used thinners on a set was ok then just used compound afterwards to bring shine back.

Only polishes I have laying around are Autoglym for lighter colors, Autosol glass and chrome polishes, and another one but it's only for blue paint.

toothpaste?
sounds stupid but it works well on normal grubby lights

Hmm, I'll give that a go. I tried using thinner, it got a lot of it off but there's still some left over and it seems to have matted. I had a sudden brainwave and thought maybe some brake fluid? I had some left over from when I serviced my car and applied a thin, generous layer to the tail light in hopes it'll peel off whatever is left.

If it doesn't work, I'll try 2500 grit sandpaper and wet sand it

Update: Neither worked, so I gave up and tinted them again.
