Well after 347 miles from Aberdeen to Bolton i got home in one piece.....

Car runs perfect at normal motorway speeds and i couldnt fault it in any way. Now for the problems!!!

Car wont idle proper, the guy i have spoken too has built the engine and made it high compression, he has also supplied me with a kent cam pulley. The idle is at about 2k and if it drops the car stalls and wont re start until the fuel from the carb has evaporated. He told me i needed to have the pulley fitted and the car set up on a rolling road to sort idle and fueling issue, does this sound right?

Any help would be greatful as i am a novice when it comes to cars.

Couple of pics of car....

The pulley probably won't do much, unless there was massive skimming done, causing the cam timing to be out... but getting the carb set up and naking sure the dizzy is working will do wonders

There has been skimming done mate. Dont quote me on numbers but think he said 15000 off head and 55000 of the block. The guy who did it used to work for Vauxhall world rally team in the 80/90's.

Yes it was of Ebay mate...

First plan is to get her running correctly. Change the thermostat as it only warms up when sat still (which is at 2k rpm haha).

Give her a good clean and full detail and then hopefully drive her a lot all being well.

TBH i dont have much i can compare it too as i have forget how nippy these where back when i had one in the mid 90's. It goes okay and likes sitting at motorway speeds. I have just sold my BMW 135i which was tuned to 380 bhp so she isn't going to be no rocket ship in comparison haha...

I spotted this for sale a while back, certainly looks super clean. Made me all sentimental as the reg is only a couple of digits off my old GTE which was F867 SVT.

Any plans for it?
