Hi All,

First post on here so hi. I am going to buy a 89 f regarding nova 1.3 Sr on Saturday. I have asked a few questions to the seller and he h's come back with the engine does not have a vin number stamped in as the engine has been machined down to get high compression. Does this sound correct. Car it self looks immaculate and the work that has been done to it all sounds very good.

Is there anything I need to look out for when going to buy it. Also I will have a 360 mile return drive in it which is going to be a major test for it.. haha

Thanks in advance.

Luke

It's fairly normal, but that's a hell of a skim to have the block done too

So it is normal to have no vin on engine? Car has history from 17k miles until 69k which millage is on.

Engine has been fully tuned with a massive amount of time and money spent. The bottom end has been re-furbished and balanced, High compression engine, gas flowed head with road/rally cam/valve springs kit.
The above is what work the engine has had done..

I wouldn't be overly worried, if its a heavily worked on engine; if it was otherwise standard it would be a bit fishy. And assuming the vehicle VIN matches up to the V5.

Just spoke to the guy who is selling it. He actually worked for vauxhall works rally team in the 80's/90's building engines for them. He said he has skimmed block and head to ensure he could get correct compression rate, (bit over my head this haha)
