Completely unrelated topic, but have you seen the engine Nissan are releasing?

http://www.engineering.com/DesignerEdge/DesignerEdgeArticles/ArticleID/7071/Nissans-40kg-400HP-Engine.aspx

Apparently, it's a 3 cylinder 1.5L turbo engine producing 400hp and weighing a total of 40kg.

If it's at all possible, with the whole new "air" lubrication system to keep weight down and such, I think it will be a major hit in the "weight reduction, bro" business sector.

Yes ive heard of it. There is very little technical detail to study, but its hardly a technological leap from the 80's gpB and F1 cars in terms of BHP/L

But seeing as it's gonna be available for regular consumers like you and I to purchase, and hopefully not at a massive price point like F1 engines, I think it will be swapped into many many cars. Imagine a Nova with one of those things. Immense power to weight ratio.

Uh... what a load of tripe.

Win a round of WEC with that dinky toy engine? Delusional at best.

As a design excercise that Nissan LMP1 is phenonemal, as a practical functioning race car its well, just not.
