It looks alrite dont it, suits the car. He had 17s on there before, cost him ?500, bucled them. Its only a 1.2 8V, so they made it slow as shit, the 15's on there suit the car more, and they are soo much lighter.

His plansa re to slam it about 80mm or round or 60mm and get sum 195/50 tyres. the ones on there are huge, 185/65!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeh mate there alrite for ?80 aint they suit da car n now i can slam it 60mm wit no probs.got the wheels off here!!!ive seen some nice wheels on escortevolution.co.uk ?75 15" mille action (think dats wat there called)

nwmlarge
24-09-03, 12:02 PM
mines going down 50 on my 17's on sat hopefully. i would slam as much as you can get away with mate.

Anonymous
24-09-03, 12:06 PM
can u get 70mm springs???or 80mm 70mm bk????i need to get a set of 50 tyres all round coz dey r tractor tyres at da mo.how much u reckon dat wuld be??

nwmlarge
24-09-03, 12:23 PM
tyres depends on what u wanna pay i would recommend as much as you can affford if you want to go down as low as poss i suggest no more than 205 wide if the rim will take it ie 7 inch. they look like 6 or 6.5 so 195 might be safer width defo go for 50's but don't blame me if you can't get over the humps on the front. lol.
no one does 70 0r 80 mm springs and i wouldn't recommend them either the spring might come out due to excessive extention on the dampers. get coilovers if you want it that far down. other wise i think 50 would be fine you can hopefully see mine saturday if all goes to plan

Paul
24-09-03, 12:50 PM
mille actions, wtf!!!

MOMO sport. They aint dat gud, theres 17's on her for like ?25 more.!

U get springs and dampers nwmlarge, (andy is it).

Sortened shocks and dampers prevent springs cumin out and iv never heard of it.

Go down 70 or 80mm, ill post a photoshopped image of it slammed when i get home.

nwmlarge
24-09-03, 01:03 PM
if the spring is too short particularly at the back on punto mk2 's it can come out. i have looked everywhere and the lowest spring kit is 50 besides he has no weight in the engine bay to make the springs compress so he needs coilovers to get a decent drop.
yes it's andy and no i ain't using dampers yet i will get them after christmas i don't want them full up with leaf gunk after 2 weeks. besides the existing ones should hold till then its an 03 plate HGT

because it doesn't match to his view of a car
i suggested it luke isn't stupid enough to just follow what i say so why say that @wisewood
luke it is a serious suggestion you could probably get one blended in for 150

Anonymous
25-09-03, 01:41 PM
i reckon it would look ok on my car actually.

wisewood
25-09-03, 01:50 PM
I said don't do it - not because as you put it "it doesnt fit with my view of a car", not at all, so keep your assumptions about me to youself until you ahve been around long enough to know anything about me.

I said dont do it because its a front engined car so a practical, functioning one would be useless and would only serve to make your head cold in winter. having a fake one is all good and well and might well suit the car but once you pick up any real speed you run the risk of it ripping off and damaging your roof - and quite possibly causing a serious accident behind you.

Thats why i said dont do it, not because i think it will look shite. A little bit of forward thinking can often go a very long way.

25-09-03, 01:52 PM
Oooooo hand bags up

i wouldnt do a real one i aint dat stupid der would be no point its only a 1.2.a fake would look ok. Y u all getting bitchy sort it out!!

wisewood
25-09-03, 02:03 PM
i wasnt saying you were stupid enough to fit a real one - what i am saying is that its pointless fitting one if its not functional because it'll just get ripped off by the force of the air against it and make your roof look a mess, not top mention the car behind you that gets it wedged through their windscreen.

25-09-03, 02:04 PM

25-09-03, 02:18 PM
what a load of shit show me an example of a roof vent getting ripped off.
if that were the case whole wing vents would be ripped off too. i don't need to make up my mind on you. u have made your thoughts on roof vents clear. your scared it might come off.
if you stuck it on with blue tack fair enough but rivited then fillered and smoothed in it would be no problem. it would have no more a detrimental effect on acceleration than a sun roof or an open window would make. so a little forward planning before opening mouth might help

Anonymous
25-09-03, 02:21 PM
agreed use ur brain and "THINK" if u put it on properly it wont come off will it!!

25-09-03, 02:30 PM
Is it just me or are the newbies getting brave and ganging up on the Admin?

Might have to set the Bouncer on them

wisewood
25-09-03, 02:32 PM
ok then - you win - i will just wait for someone else to come along and tell you that you are both wrong too. Even the subaru bonnet vent, as fitted on a subaru by subaru themselves comes off if you go fast enough.

I have read on here, many times about bonnet vents being ripped off while driving on the motorway etc. A bonnet vent is essentially the same thing as a roof vent - a scoop to catch the air.

As for the comment about the impairment of acceleration being the same as a sunroof or an open window - that's just completely unfounded nonesense.

Think about it, the airflow around the car takes most of the air past the window and only a small amount makes it into the car - as proven by driving down the motorway and sticking your arm out the window.

So a lump of moulded, scoop shaped plastic stuck onto the roof of your car (sorry... riveted, stuck, filled and smoothed) will catch the air inside it and thus create drag. Like trying to swim with a carrier bag wrapped around your foot - or drive with a parachute on the back of your car - drag is drag.

You can argue with me - but you cant argue with physics.

sorry for not replying earlier i was unduly forced to do some work.
either way a roof vent or an open window will slow down the car but on this occasion it makes no odds cos the aim isn't to go fast besides luke lives in southend safety camera city.
my point that the vent won't come off is true and stands.

wisewood
25-09-03, 03:12 PM
fine - have it your way.

but i still say its pointless and could be dangerous.
not gonna argue abou tit any more - you're not the only one with work to do - it's getting towards the busy bit for me - the long 2 hour slog to try and get 4 hours work done and be out before the traffic!

Gobby
25-09-03, 03:15 PM
Right, I drive a taxi (I really do) the top sign is held on with 4 very powerful magnets, takes 2 men to remove it, hit a road at 90mph in it and that thing rattles like hell, things to come off no matter how well attached they are.

Trees have big roots into the ground, gales can rip them out no problem at all. Tiles on a roof, nailed in, high winds take them off.

So no matter how well bonded something is, there will always be a way for it to come off.

I'll save you the hassle of replying, I'm blethering shit

nwmlarge
25-09-03, 03:33 PM
I'll save you the hassle of replying, I'm blethering s**t
lmao

true i didn't say it wouldn't come off but i would go as far as to say his car probably won't get up enough speed to rip it off (no offence luke)
so it won't be a problem.
lol

Anonymous
25-09-03, 03:48 PM
as i said before its only a 1.2 so aint gona go fast enough to rip it off,so therefore it will stay on,no offense taken andy!fair enough bout all ur gay physics and boffin stuff but if it looks good and can be held on well enough it dont matta.

wisewood
25-09-03, 03:53 PM
lmfao - fair enough.

personally i think if its a slow car - and obviously front engined there is no point having one.

Luke and Andy (Nwmlarge).

Dont argue these guys know a lot. They probably have more experience in cars than you two. I know for a fact they will than u luke.

Roof vents can come off, luke i showed u the bloody feature of the 3.2 corsa and the fucking whole bonnet ripping off in Perfoirmance Vauxhall.

The thing was doing like 150mph but still the bonnet flew up. so if something like than can come up, then im bloody sure a piece of plastic will come off, besides uv probably got better ways to spend ?150. Like the bonnet vent???

No offence to anyone, but just listen what you're told. It may look good, maybe someone would photoshop it onto his car if u asked nicley and are nice- LUKE.
