Hi, ive a 24k whire mk2 1.2 merit. Lots of ideas and 90% of the parts, but no final plan as yet (only had it two years, lol)

On my red sri I painted the floor pan and inner arches in grey stoneguard then flame red and 2k lacquer. This was 9 years ago and its still looking great.

NOW do I do similar with the merit? It will look great until its dirty, then every tar spot etc makes it look awfull, it will be difficult to clean and as its textured you cant really polish it.
I did this on a white astravan I had years ago, and it always looked a bit grubby.
Also it will make the arches look massive and wheels small.

What have others done with white novas? (Especially the sport/concourse car owners)?

The other idea was black or dark grey but im not really sure, might look too much like bitumen underseal.

Cheers gary.

Id say go with a mid to dark grey. Black looks awful

Black looks filthy unless its on a black car.

Do it a dark grey like Rover hurricane, it will look great like that in my opinion.

I was still going to do the floorpan, boot floor etc white. Problem is i want to keep it as close to factory as possible. If it was red black blue etc id be doing the lot body colour.

Body colour is how they were made so should stay original imo

Stay white.

Is the car on a jig? As i wanted some one use a roller to put on underseal. That way you get a nice smooth finish that easy to clean.

Mine was sprayed on, so has a proper bumper finish, which is a nightmare to clean!

Then get some tradis spray. That breaks tar and stuff down easy with just a spray..

Yeah probably going to stay white tbh. Anything else is going to look a bit rubbish really. I'll use gravitex then white. Will need to do some homework on lacquering white (as 2k paint tends to dull/fade) and polishing the floor pan is virtually impossible lol. I'll probably make a spit benn will make it easier. If not I'll just put it on the 2 post ramp.

oh wait inside or out? my inside is white but underneath is black, i just done a cheap rattle can job inside and it came out ok, I still run floor mats even though I'm stripped as they get dirty to quick otherwise.

yeah underside. The car is immaculate, so only a proper job will do it justice. I dont have a final spec in mind yet, but paintwork is first on the cards.

If its all you say it is then no question in it imo

If you can get in there with a small rolller you can get a nice smooth finish.
If not spray. 2k white it, let it dry, grey scotch it then lacquer it. Will give it more protection. Then a good thick wax and or sealant.
