Midway through rebuilding my autograss novas 1.6 8v engine and im wondering what oil would be best to use?
Last season i used castrol gtx 10/40,this season iv used comma classic mineral 20/50
Engine is a high comp (big head skim) e16se which is always revving its knackers off in 2nd for 5laps
Theres an old saying...oil is cheaper than a rebuild. This isnt wrong.
cheers

castrol gtx 10/40 you wont have a problem. If you do its not the oils fault.

Some lads there say its too thin and theyve had lifters jack cos of it? They use that 20/50 stuff so i tried it too.

that's probably more likely been due to revving too hard, oil too hot or oil too old.

I use a Gulf competition 10w-40 I get from Opie or Demon Tweeks. Engine runs lovely on it and oil pressure is always good and I drive it hard. It was highly recommended by Opie. I bought it from Tweeks off Ebay last time as it was cheaper.

Castrol GTX is crap imo. We have a lubricant testing facility local and the Castrol oils usually tend to come off worse on testing.

Opie have it on offer now on Ebay, see item number 181244262185.
They also do 10w-60 and 15w-50.

My 1400 8v rally engine uses Millers CSS 20-60 semi synthetic.

Not cheap but has been very good at protecting the engine and is changed every 100 or so competition miles to keep it at its best
