Please someone advise me on sorting out this problem before I scrap this shit heap

1.3 engine with irmscher injection kit fitted

I did have a problem with it not wanting to idle at less than 2k

Borrowed a testing kit that showed issues with the Loom, fitted brand new loom, the testing kit shows everything is working ok

The problem is still there

I've tried different ICV, AFM, ECU

I'm thinking about stripping the whole inlet side off and starting from scratch to make sure there isn't any air leaks

Anyone with any ideas? Input? Opinions?

I'd really appreciate some advice

Edd

Do the AFM's on them have an idle stew inside like the 2.0 8 valves do?

Yep they do

Tried that completely one way and the other, no different

check everywhere for air leaks and check the position of the TPS.

99% sure its going to be air leak related although a TPS out of adj could prevent the ECU from dropping onto idle control.

also check the distributor isnt in a rediculous position.

The pipes from afm to throttle body can have splits and cause chaos.see lads have these issues often at grassing with the gtes.
spray all round that area and see what happens
that screw you speak of is the fuel mixture screw.not idle.it needs to be set on a gas analyser.

Hi Edd,
What this the engine build now?

Is everything standard Irmscher injection?

Is the cam timing correct? Not being funny, I had a tuning issue with my sport, wouldn't idle (@1700-2000rpm) after many hours of checking, it turned out the cam timing was out by @ 20deg, resulting in no vacuum when you lifted off the throttle, so didn't pull the carb butterflies shut.

Cheers for the replies everyone

Major check for air leaks in the morning

Royston, everything standard apart from a cone filter

The timing hasn't moved since I checked it with a light, will double check tho

I will report back tomorrow with results or the lack of them

My problem was cam timing, check for leaks first, ring me, happy to help! ;)

It idles fine for a few minutes
Seems to be as it warms up

Then the revs rise, majority of the time it stops at 1.5/2k, but it has risen up to 4k, probably would of gone higher but I turned it off

The idle on the SR can float, can get up to 1500 rpm, but settles

Edd

No weighbridge lol

Think I've found the problem

Won't know for sure until tomorrow now

Give us a clue then or is it in traditional png fashion like the for sale new buyer threads to not say anything for six thousand posts?

lol

The throttle body is a twin butterfly type, the spring on the linkage that keeps closed the large flap ain't keeping it shut basically

Got a few other bodies to get bits from

Im hoping that is the problem
