Hi All
Question 1: dose anyone know where I can get over sized valves for my 1.4 SE head ?. The valves are inlet 39mm x 105mm long, exhaust 32mm x 105mm long.

Question 2: I have a spare 1.6 SE head how much would I have to skim off it to get the right compression ratio on a 1.4 block ?

Question 3: If I did the above would I have a problem with valve to piston contact ?.( standard lifters, piper bph300 cam).

Thanks
Graham.

A1: REC/Paul Ivey does +1mm valves, otherwise if you want bigger (like myself) then you have to look through catalogues etc to find a match

A2: A lot/too much: I CC'd a 14SE head and a 16SE head earlier this year with the 14SE coming out at 21.8cc and the 16SE at 38ish, from what I calculated, even if you skimmed to the plug boss threads you would only get to approx. what a 14SE is as standard.

A3: All dependant on what cam and pistons but I worked out for my build that a Enem A2 (4.4mm @TDC) would be ok provided the pistons don't come up further than 0.3mm above the deck (assuming flat top pistons)

Hope that helps, if you do find a supplier for valves that are larger than +1mm, please let me know.

look at 20seh valves. they are the same stem diameter, similar length & larger diameter

Thanks mowgli, I've had a look through a valve catalogue and the 20se ones are too big a diameter really. I'm looking at using inlets from a Hart 420 (40.6mm) and using std 1300 inlets (33mm) as exhausts - in 214N grade stainless though. That should leave 0.7mm between them so I don't want to run any less realistically.
