Hi all

I am having a nightmare getting an XE in my nova to run!!! Engine and loom taken from a working doner car so I know all the bits work, just can't remember how they go as its been a good year since I last opened the toolbox.

I have a good spark
I have fuel

I do not hear any clicking of relays......

I have for now just run + and - wires to the pump to get fuel in the rail.....

Engine cranks fine

I think all the earths are done. I have two earths on the inlet that come from the loom by the injectors. The gearbox is earthed to the chassis, and to double confirm I used a jump lead to the battery earth.

I know I need to add a few wires to the car loom from the engine loom, and I have tried to follow some guides but I must be too dim to figure it out haha.

I have this plug coming from the end of the engine loom:

I think this is the fuel relay as its on the end of the engine loom?:

Any ideas?

Yes thats the fuel pump relay, you want that some where dry.

I don't recognize that plug tho.

Is the black switched live connected up?

The plug is on the end of the loom that comes out of the bit with the injector wires, so its coming out on the right hand side. I undid the tape that was on it as the colours on the end are odd.

I currently have no wires joined from engine loom to car loom as I have just removed to start again. I did have the switched live connected - is that black with red stripe? I temp twisted it to the ignition barrel black and red

These are the wires that have been added that were run into the doner car. One end is the plug from the engine loom, and you can see the colour change

Right, I am going to start again.

All I have now is the engine loom on the engine and the car loom in the car.

The ecu live is to the battery and the engine loom has an ignition switched live sorted. The fuel pump relay clicks on when ignition on.

As far as I am aware now to get it running is literally just sorting the fuel pump wiring - is that right?

If it is, I know its the blue/red wire for the pump live, but where does the other one come from?

Green is reves.
Blue is water temp.
Blue/white is oil pressure.

Hi Benn, got all them ready thanks.

Where do I take the fuel pump feed from? The fuel pump live wire runs around the whole engine loom - can I splice from ECU plug side, or take run from blue/red at fuel relay to pump live and ground the pump neg?

Blue white is alternator not oil pressure!!

Take the pump feed from the correct wire.wherever the end is.

Thanks Andy. I have found an end I can use. Will see what happens....

Take it to a spare bit of the fuseboard..mount the correct fuse (15amp iirc) then run a wire to the pump from the back of the fuseboard.job done.

You diag plus bit can be missed as it wont tell you bugger all, just leve the brown/yellow out you can touch to gound to flash the codes out.
