Apologies if this should be in the whats it worth sub forum but I feel that agreed valuation is different to a selling price. I am not looking to sell the car!

How do you achieve the best valuation?

What should I apply for? Car is a red 3dr hatch, B reg 1.2 swing. 25.5k miles I am the second owner from new. Every MOT to back up the mileage, stack of receipts but no service book/stamps. Interior is pretty much immaculate. Exterior is solid with no rust at all but it has marks from the previous elderly owner. Both front wings are marked and slightly dented. Both rear arches scratched slightly. O/S A pillar has been badly painted. N/S door has been spray painted in the middle.

Car is standard except for completely refurbished (blasted and powder coated all over including metal centre caps) cesaros and brand new tyres.

Last year without the wheels and no evidence of any history I just filled the minimum on the form and got £1800. Looking at prices over the last year or so I feel that is too low and if anything happened to it I couldn't replace it for the amount of money. I am looking to better that and put more effort in with the claim and supporting evidence.

look at adds of low mileage, totally standard cars that have been sold, you can use them in comparison to work out a price for yours.
Use the said adds as back up when the insurance company question anything.

I was thinking that Benn but you never know what the actual selling price was.

That's why it needs to be sold adds. Even if it doesn't say the final price you can give or take a bit (150 either way maybe) to give you a starting figure.
