Hi all im sure this has been asked before but i cant find it at the moment, I am running V6 brakes on my XE and yes there is quite a bit of travel in the pedal... i want to fit a larger master cylinder to try and eliminate this?

Does anyone know what the largest master cylinder i can fit without too much other work?

Also I want to upgrade my discs and pads was thinking EBC does anyone have any recommendations?

was looking at fiat coupe discs so that i dont have to drill them

Cheers
Alex

Or you can use a corsa b gsi setup but that's a little more work

I used Mintex M1144 pads, they were good.

is the astra gte servo and master cylinder a straight fit?

and would the mintex pads be good enough for the odd track day?

No, the rear pipes will need remaking as they are around the other way on the Astra. (front lines top, rear lines bottom on the m/c)

If you get Mintex M1144 they are a lower level track style pad. Will be much better than EBC stuff.

Thats alright i have fully braided lines for the rear and plan to for the front as well, il keep an eye out for a servo and MC now :)

And thanks for the advice on pads thats great to know iv only ever used EBC so will be good to try something new. what do people recommend disc wise?

Which V6 calipers do you have? Big or small piston?

As for track use, my 1144s lasted a session (~15mins) of Lee's driving at Combe, but were starting to fade by the end. Great on the road but I think if I was doing more than a few sessions, or a full day, I'd not recommend them.

ah i dont know off the top of my head i will have to check and measure them :S

Sorry thst didnt read right, all 4 lines will need to be remade. Are your brided lines fitted now on the nova mc? They should be ok.

Yeah I did think you meant all lines would have to be re-made haha. and yeah the rears are fitted already but i have enough slack for them to change position, maybe just need adaptors if the ends are different?

There's 57mm and 54mm versions. Both fitted at varying times on various v6 and turbo models iirc and have different brake pad size/shapes.

There should be a casting mark on the caliper denoting the piston and (I think?) disc size, 54/24 or 57/25. If you have a fair bit of pedal travel I'd guess you have the larger piston ones...

I think they are still M12 on the rear and M10 on the front, so you should be able to screw in.
Its a swap i looked at. I just couldn't face re making my brake lines.

Erm Turbos had 284 stuff tho, which is different.

travel can be adjust a little by adjusting the rod under the dash.

Oh really i was always told to leave it well alone and just change the MC?

Benn

The MC is 22 bore rather than 20 so more fluid will move thought it. But that won't remove that much travel. Iirc.
Adjusting the bar, which you can only do a little will help to move the travel too.

Do both and you'll remove quite alot.

I'm struggling to find a gte servo does anybody know of one or know if the master cylinder will bolt up to my servo?

Both Cav and Calibra used the 54mm caliper (284mm disc) on turbos and V6s. The Calibra also used the 57mm caliper (288mm disc) on later turbos and V6s, and I think the Vectra used the bigger ones too on a bunch of models

Yeah as above really; or go Insignia VXR 337MM. I do recommend ebc also.

Do the astra gte master cylinders bolt straight to nova servo?

Benn

Early mk2 Astra gte non abs. It needs to be straight bolt holes.

That does look great, but can't see any numbers on it for the bore size.

Reading his terms, i dont like them.

It is the buyers responsibility to ensure correct part for their car.

HHmm dodgy, as you only have what he's listing it as to know. Unless you can google the part number and find more info.
