SFI vs PowerCap

What are the differences of running an SFI box compared to a powercap on a c20xe?

I'm sure the SFI box is supposed to give you better midrange torque. Got a great condition one for sale if you wanted to try it!

Powercap is useful for space in conversions.

I have a sfi box on at the moment and my mate has a powercap said it gives a bit more bhp, so I was considering it as Im thinking of small mods until I get enough together to go for a let...

Mid range torque is more important than peak power IMHO

Unless there's a space issue, stick with the Sfi box. As mentioned, you may gain some pub bhp at the top end, but at the expense of the more important mid range as stu said...

I have a powercap fitted to mine. But the donor car had it fitted so it stayed. Would be interesting to get an SFi box to do a direct comparison.

Do it. I hated mine when I fitted it in my black gte... I have a nice early Sfi box with your name on it lol... (Early ones fit straight on)

I've heard a powercap making less peak too, but can't speak from own experience.

I tried both on my xe, doesn't feel much difference between the two to be honest. Currently got the powercap on as im using a strutbrace and it wouldn't fit with the SFI airbox in place.

I bet the minute you change the frankly shocking standard inlet though, power would be up and the engine would feel smoother.

Oh really? Do you mean Inlet manifold or throttle body? I have seen some enlarged throttle bodies on eBay are they worth the money?

Many mate has a mk2 golf with a 20v turbo in it and want to make sure I can beat him haha
