View Full Version : Replacement K&N air filter 1.0L question - spare pipe?
Hey everyone, my new car came with a replacement air filter fitted to the mightly ol' 1 litre carb, one of those chrome-topped K&N ones. Whilst I'm under no illusion that I've gained 300 bhp from it ;) I do fancy keeping it as it looks nice. However, there's a pipe next to it, right hand side as you look in the bay, that comes up from the rocker cover and now leads to no-where, which is now open to the elements. Looking at the original airbox it looks like it fitted underneath it.
Should this pipe be blocked off, or should some sort of filter be put over this also? It won't fit into the K&N.
Cheers! :thumb:
You get a filter to sit on it, it is a breather hose. The car will probably perform better with the original airbox though, especially in cold running.

just extend the pipe and poke it down the back of the engine. youll get oil vapour out it so if you aim it at the road youll not get it over the engine bay. Ideally you want a catch tank and breather filter. an alloy water bottle with a hole in it for the breather hose then a filter on the top makes a decent one for about £5. Coke bottles/pepsi bottles work equally as good as long as the air can vent out the top. A monster/red bull one will probably give you 10hp

If you can extend the hose to the rear chassis rails it will prevent them from rusting so fast.
