View Full Version : Retrim back seats / hatch backs in 'loon
I have a set of SR back seats to match my fronts. Unfortunately they don't match my current back seats as they are from a hatch and I've got a 4 door 'loon.
Has anyone managed to retrim the existing seats with the 3 door covers? Any tips before I make a complete hackjob of it? :wtf: The hatch seats are in 4 parts but the 'loon is only in 2...
Or has anyone managed to fit hatch rears in the loon without too much work to the 'loon bodyshell?
A retrim would be easier than trying to fit the hatch seats, the latter have metal back plates where as the saloon ones are just cushion.
The only potential issue I could see with that is the 4dr rear cushions are a different shape to 2/3dr ones, they come round and cover the rear arch a bit. So it could be tricky to get the fabric to cover it correctly.
Hmmmm this could be really tricky.... might be better either keeping the seats I have, or buying a replacement back set with a cloth that already matches (the sales brouchure seemed to suggest the saloon had similar cloth as an option but I'd need to double check).
Cheers for the reply mate :thumb:

It can be done if you have a lot of patients lol
Looks excellent mate nice work! :thumb:
Replacement back seat in the right trim isn't an option - it didn't come in the saloon :(

I think I'm right in saying some early nova hatches had a single piece rear seat witch would mean covering al loon one would be easier
yes, but only the poverty spec ones.
You can actually get PoV spec rainbow style seats. They don't match the SR rainbows perfectly but not far away.
The sting model has sr rainbow seats and the rear bench is one piece.
