My saloon has had the bumpers brush painted black and it looks horrific, and is covered in chips. I've tried a few things to remove it (scrubbing brush and hot water, soapy water, scraping with my fingernails lol, Sellotape ) but nothing's working that well...
any ideas how I could get it off? Would white spirit damage the plastic? I tried cutting compound but it only took it off the raised bits of the texture and left it in the rest
I just want to go back to plain old standard ;)

White spirit might be ok, thinners too. Try it on the sides out of the way to see if it discounts the plastic first.

If not you'll need to sand it off, but then you'll need to paint it after.

Cheers Benn... It's flaking in places so hopefully will come off.... But it's gonna take about 8 years at this rate lol

A really high pressure jet wash?

Tried that mate and it is coming off but some of it won't budge.... I'm gonna try a small spot of white spirit or thinners in a hidden away section and hopefully it won't discolour the bumper.... either that or I'm just going to have to suck it up and take an ice age to take it off a tiny bit at a time.
Also thought, since sellotape (lol) worked a bit - maybe just duck tape or something stickier and wider could do the job a bit quicker....

Quick update - wide masking tape stuck on, pushed down then pulled off fast is taking off the bulk of the paint so far :thumb: done nearly all the back bumper.... Just Tidy up and front to go!!

I done a set of side skirts with nitromorse and it didn't damage the plastic at all its a bit risky though
