As I'm sure a few are aware in using front coil overs on the rear. The current springs are going to be way too stiff I'd imagine.

what spring poundage will I be needing for the rear?

Cheers

Might be worth giving AVO a call and asking what lbs in springs are used on their rear dampers for a Nova.

Depends in your intended usage and anti roll bar set up

id try it with the same poundage as the front of a standard nova to start with it wont be far away. what are they about 280lb????

Totally forgot about this thread. Yeah I'll maybe give avo a call. No idea if I'm using a rear arb or not tbh. And I have no idea what the standard ones are rated to at all.

How on earth is anyone to know until you know what weight your backend is?

Not going to be much heavier than a standard nova is it?

Well if your right, use std poundage rears.

But by the time you add up the tube section, wishbones, prop, rear diff etc... you will be pretty geavy in which case you will need to experiment with different rate springs

So just a case of trial and error really then?

Ultimately..yes.
But at least dont buy anything until its on the road and you have a finished weight. What you have will be enough to run the car. But being so far away from finished as you are, it may be a bit premature to go asking about springs for a 'one-off' car.

Ok cheers. Yeah I know but the guy said I'll be needing springs as the back end would probably be slipping about so thought I'd ask the question that's all.

Im sure he's right. But Id hate to see you waste money on springs when no one could possibly tell you the right answer.

So if I get the car on corner weights when it's built up I should get a more accurate answer then? Yeah I don't want to be buying things that are no use.

Corner weights wont really help as you could still have a soft spring wound up to give you an even distribution. You will need to get it on the road/track and play with dampers to get it right.

Ah ok. Thanks for your help :)

I cant see any thing off the shelf will be right and people will only be able to guess.

Frame, diff, shafts prop and all the extra metal in there i'd think about be getting close to engine weight.
I'd leave what you have in there, if its to soft and bouncy then get higher poundage fitted.
