Just building up a 1.4 8 valve Nova engine for a bit of clubby rallying and have seen that there are two different designs of rocker arms/camshaft followers (what ever they are called!

I have the old square type and there seems to be a new slimmer lighter (weaker?) version fitted on Corsa b's onwards.

Does anybody have experience of both and which are the best to use?

I have read reports online of the newer ones breaking, so are they weaker?

The only operational difference I can see is that the newer ones have a hole in the lifter cup for oil to escape through the top of the lifter, will this depressurise the lifter at all?

Engine is standard but spends its life revving high and hard!

stick with the old ones.

Stick with the old ones, new ones are lighter yes but with rallying (and i assume your fitting a cam?) having the older shape is safer
