You don't need to remove it to take the dash out, I had trouble with mine when I did it and in the end just took the dash out first then disconnected the loom once the dash was free.

Ah I see so you can get the dash out over the panel that the light switch sits in yes ??? and then remove the plug

The only problem with that is I still need the switch off to get to the screw that hold the plastic surround on as the shell is being blasted

You need to press in the tang underneath to remove the switch handle bit. It is a pain, but should be able to do it with a small screwdriver.

Once thats out, you need to slide two L-shaped bits of metal either side behind the switch backing plate (the round bit that has the off, sidelight, on marks on it) and press in two tangs. The switch assembly will then slide out.

As said though, if you're trying to remove the dash, you can do it without taking that bit out. You'd just need to squeeze your hands behind it to undo the plugs. You should also be able to reach the support bolt without removing it too.

If it's a mk2 dash then yes it needs to be removed as there is a screw under it.

I've always just used a set of grips with the teeth tapped up or wrapped up and then pulled. THe plastic gives up easily.

If your unsure mate fold masking tape over the end and write what each wire is on the tape :)
