not trying to be funny but when u say quicker what are u comparing it with

a 1.0?

1.4Sri with a few tweeks could prolly keep up with said 106 rallye although prolly not in the twisties (the 106 is a 100bhp 1.3, a 100bhp 1.4 would match/beat it) plus the ralley is group 9 the SRi a group 7

the clio 16v is a different matter - its a group 12 if i found the right car on parkers (1.8 16v) which is nova GSi territory and to be quite frank (up here anyway) novas in general are much rarer than cars like clios and 106's

a tuned 1.6 with 40's or a valver conversion would prolly be in the same kinda price range for insurance and i personally would rather have a 2 litre nova than either of the cars u mentioned

also remember a lot of companies wont touch you with cars over group 10 until your 21

A lad i know had a tweaked Clio 1.8 16v and it wasnt that quick at all considering what it was supposed to be pushing out...

He reckoned it was about 155bhp with all the goodies - had it rolling road tested but i never saw the figures for it.

Considering that, it wasnt too quick at all really - my other mates standard Golf 1.8 kept up with him.

the clio16v's are 136hp and 0-60 in 7.7 as standard and would pull the pants down on a standard gsi!

to be quite frank (up here anyway) novas in general are much rarer than cars like clios and 106's

nova's are absolutely everywhere here and id like to c how many clio16v's you've actually seen.

and i just dont want a nova anymore! im fed up with the reputation, getting pulled over all time and fucking rattle's and sqeaks everywhere!

106 rallye is one of the best handling cars ever.

But there poo

but not as Poo as a clio 16v wich will break down every 500 miles.

mate i fink the clio is a good idea. thats wot i am doing eventually as 137 bhp standard is not 2 be sniffed at. if u could afford a williams then im sure that most people would agree that is one ov the best hot hatches EVER.

i still love novas, but i would betray vauxhall for a williams!!!

clio16v are getting more more and more popula

lol they stopped making them years ago so there are only a certain number around so they cant suddenly get more popular as they arent making them anymore in that model.

Ste you have the same birthday as me, shame ur a whole 10 years older.

16V are shite, mate raced one of them in his old 1.6 Golf Cl, just about beat him, but not by much. The 16v are shite on pull away, not very good in mid range either, not bad at top end. As other have said, not really worth getting, invest in a 2.0, and it would just be like

Traffic lights hello Mr Clio, then all of a sudden bye bye Mr.clio

Either coz uv kicked its arse, or its broken down.

Aragorn

cant be arsed clicking quote...

when i said GSi territory i was referring to insurance costs

the clio is group 12 the gsi group 11

a 2 litre 16v nova would prolly cost similar to insure as a clio 1.8 16v and would prolly be equally if not faster than the 2 litre 16v clio williams (which has 150bhp same as the valver)

plus the experiance ive been having with french cars sucks - my mates pug randomly decided to fry its ECU, snap electric window winder assemblys, randomly blow fuses and dont even get me started on its retarded torsion beam suspension shite

if your gonna stray from the vauxhall camp then fine - just dont go backwards - i'd say go jap or german, their stuff is solid and normally gives good bang for buck compared to some of the other cars on the market :) (some examples being the honda vtecs and SDI / 1.8 20v turbo golfs :D )

Clios are very poor build quality so will be even worse for rattles and sqeaks..

Other than that not bad cars, my mates did a 15.3 at the pod last year with just zorst/airfilter and ecu remap.
