View Full Version : Alloy Radiators?
I need a new alloy rad. I've smashed a 2nd and since the TX brand seems to have gone down hill i need recommendations.
I dont want to go to thick like the one i have as it hits my turbo... So what are people using? Price and build like?
Pics would be good too.
Can you not get one made up specifically for what you need?? I had a rad made for my original XE, admittedly it was a good few years ago but I told the guy the core size and thickness i needed and he made it up with ends and outlets as I needed them and also mounting lugs. The guy isn't around anymore but there must be other chaps that would be able to do similar.
There are a few i've seen which i've emailed for quotes. But nothing back to far. I wanted someone to say, "oh i had this one from.... It's so well made look"
As all the places i've emailed are from from googling.
I emailed for quotes a while ago. Usually comes in at 300-400 for one
Funk me really? At that i'll go for another TX one...
My boss recently had one made by AH fabrications for his autograss car. Its rather huge and specific to what he wanted and came out at 600quid.
Christ. Didn't think they'd jump that much.
Alot of work goes into them
Get yer wallet out lol
Just got a quote back of 450.... Plus Vat!

You need the radtec setup like Nick j not cheap mind
Could try pro alloy, but it'll be a fun price.

They are very nice, but i'm not a huge fan of them, even less of the price!

I've looked at them, emailed them for a laugh.

Those one's from TX look really good. Can you not have any damage repaired on what you have?
how are they getting damaged? is it a mfr fault or the method of mounting?
I'm running a TX one purchased a year ago and so far it's been ok, I think for the price of a custom one you could have 2-3 TX ones and also if it's the turbo touching the rad causing it to leak you're gonna contemplate death by fire if it happens to a £600plus rad!!
I've had my tx one tig welded where the seam leaked. Always frustrating knowing its potentially a weak point though
Had a few other quotes, all above 350. Can see me getting a TX one again.
