It's fairly redundant on my saloon so looking to plate it. what would people recomend, weld in a sheet or bond in? No fibreglass as it needs some strength to hold the fuel cell. Also has anyone done this?

If it was me mate I'd stitch weld it round and seam seal the edge in.

if you are taking the tank and wheel well out, that leaves a big void under the floor that won't help with the under car air flow. Why not make a recessed panel to fit the fuel cell into? It will certainly help with the centre of gravity. Then you cen fit some sort of rear diffuser and smooth panel to sort the air out. Oh and weld all shell alterations

I'd also put some bracing between the legs and attach it to that. Some little box section or cage tubing

Ok cool, maybe I'll opt for a cell that sits in the spare wheel compartment then to minimise cutting.

I put an x of box section in and then polycarbed it lol

Pft at stitched; seam that void up with steel. Then like Iain says, some box between leggies for strength.

I used a big ally panel

pic of current corsa b, just plate of steel welded in

old one looked a bit better/tidier cos it was cut out in a half moon shape and went around following the line of where it used to be but haven't got a pic to hand

Bonded and rivited. Due to the full cage and welded strut bar I had no bracing underneath either

I welded mine flush with a sheet over the whole floor like Burgos up there. With 2 rails under side so its still strong.

Why not once you've done it, make a diiffuser like flat floor for it, from the end of the seat pan, to the rear panel. That would cover/fill the void left from tank and wheel well...

I've been looking for a piccy of my wheel well removal but to be fair it's no different than the rest.
I just cut it out and welded a flat plate in. As for filling the void, I added a small diffuser.

Just make one out of ally. Aim for around 7 degree angle and it should make a difference. Worst case it looks cool lol

Didn't realise this was F1

It's not. Lots of cars use diffusers....^
