A mate is fitting a 300+bhp let engine into his car, we would like to know everyone's opinions on which clutch would be best for road use, the car will be fitted with an f28 thanks

Just get the highest rated, non paddle kit you can find... Helix etc do them. A genuine gm one was fine on my 250 ish let for two years though

LUK did the genuine GM ones on XEs, assume they'd be the same for a LET

I fitted a new LUK clutch to mine when i did my phase 2 spec build, done 7-8 hard drag runs and it started to slip.

At that power id go for a paddle clutch as when he goes for more power its one less item to worry about.

If you're thinking paddle on a million lbs/ft LET then invest in a twin plate.

Won't a paddle clutch be terrible for road use though?

Wont 300+ bhp be a waste on the road???

Paddles are ok (not 3 paddle) until you get stuck in heavy traffic. I had to pull over once on the m5 as I had massive cramp lol

Ha that bad? If he's needs a paddle clutch then he will have to but would prefer not to

Thing with a paddle is you need more revs to counter the sudden release else the car will stall. Imagine being in traffic for 25 minutes dropping the clutch at 2,000rpm each time being launched to 10mph to travel 5 meters then stop everytime. It's not too bad if once rolling in 1st you can hold say 3 mph keeping distance from car infront, but it can become 'tiresome' as some put it. Depending on fuel map at low rpm this effect will be lessened / greater; that is to say lean & it'll be worse and lumpy cams only compound the issue.
