I'm changing my calipers from wilwood a to compbrakes as they are a smaller caliper and will allow me to remove the wheel spacers I currently have to run.

im using the same size discs (280mm) but the noticeable difference is the size of the brake pads.

what effect will this have on the braking power/feel?

The pic below shows the difference in size

The key point is are the pistons bigger/smaller than the last ones?

assuming the piston size is the same, you shouldn't notice any difference aside from the pads lasting longer lol

Craig look at some of my videos to give you an idea of stopping power from these calipers , my car is light I know but I have always been good under braking so much so the people I race against many using expensive ap calipers comment on the braking on my car , get the right pads and they will be fine

You haven't said which pad is which
