Riiiight, I've been playing with an idea of using bike pistons with a very short compression height coupled with a considerably longer steel rod in order to make a bottom end that'd be more likely to endure high revs (8500-9000 max)

I've narrowed down the components and worked everything out however I'm just questioning if there is any point?
What can a 14SE bottom end take as it is? and would there be any power gain from a setup like this?

Thanks

Some Autograss class 5 engines I have seen at 190 hp. So you will probably be ok.

back on the olden days, the astra/nova challenge 1300 racers were running 8500-9000 on hydraulic lifters & standard innards....

In which case I'll stick to a lightened & balanced std bottom end. No point in trying to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks!

recondition your existing bottom end, make sure the oil pump is running at its best, and the bearings are replaced.
