not sure what box is in the vectra, but a f28-6 from a turbo can be fitted into a nova (if they have a relevant engine) no point fitting 1 of these to a 1.2 for instance

If its deffo from a Vectra then i would say its more thank likley a cable gear shifter mechanism with a hydrolic clutch as well so i would not even bother looking into fitting it in a nova! Rick

I am fitting one at the moment and i have to say i am not sure i would bother fitting one again as its a lot of work. As the box is physically wider than a normal 5 speed box you have to fit a new NSF engine mount as the box goes where the old mount used to be. Also the gearbox linkage needs cutting and shutting and you have to drill and tap out some holes on the box to make it fit in a FWD car. If i was doing it over again i think i would fit a set of quaife internals into a normal F20 5 speed box as then you can still use the std mounts.

If you have a normal 2ltr engine i would not even think about fitting a 6 speed as its a bit heavier and as its stronger you loose more BHP through the box. Rick

its just cos i was thinking fuel acon, i have seen a nova in total vauxhall ages ago with one it. its that red nova with a 2ltr in, and its owned by that man who chose to drive his nova rather than a company car! its well tidy, u know which nova i mean?

that nova looked crap imo no point in having the 6spd and yes its a bitch to fit!

the 6th gear in the F28 is the same ratio as 5th gear in a wide ratio nova box

so if u can live with the slightly reduced accelleration u get the same fuel economy but a gear less ;)

No not the same as a nova wide ratio box, possibly a astra F16 WR but not a nova one. Rick

what mount did you use on the NSF, the bit thats welded to the chasis leg?? is it the nova 1 moved forward or a *cough* PVD thing. And what mount on the 'box, is it one you used on the F20???

the nova WR box has 0.71 as 5th gear and a 3.94 FD as standard

from http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89196&highlight=f28+ratio we see that the F28 has a 0.74 6th gear which is LONGER than the nova but is equipped with a 3.72 final drive

so with the nova box and standard FD we get:

165mph on 195/45R16 tires with 6800rpm rev limiter

with the nova box and GTE FD (3.74) we get:

175mph on 195/45R16 tires with 6800rpm rev limiter

with the nova box and Corsa Sri/GSi FD (3.55) we get:

183mph on 195/45R16 tires with 6800rpm rev limiter

with the F28 box and standard FD we get:

168mph on 195/45R16 tires with 6800rpm rev limiter

so as i stated the nova box is similar in normal guise and with different final drives is actually longer than the F28

I am using the PVD mount all be it very modded to make it all fit right. I think once the engine is in and i have ran it for a little bit i will then take the mount off and get someone to make me a copy of it as the one i will have made shud be better than the PVD. Rick

No offence but even if the 6 speed would fit on your 1.2 it would not have the power to move the extra weight of the gearbox, let alown pull 6th gear. Rick
