View Full Version : Rear wheel bearing.
Removing the hub to fit the handbrake cable, the inner wheel bearing stayed on the axle stub thing.
I have never seen this before, they always stay in the hub, and the bearing looks pretty new.
Is this ok to put back together or is the bearing knackered?
Thanks

Ive had this happen a few times. Just check the bearing if all's ok refit. Make sure you use a socket or drift the same size as the seal and tap it square.
Fit some new ones. You'll only have to do them in a few weeks once the brake dust has wrecked them.

its only the dust seal/lip that holds the inner bearing in, it doesnt take much to pull it off so its pretty normal and nothing to worry about, pull the bearing and the seal off the stub, check there is no dirt in the grease, pop the bearing back in and press the seal on.
as above, if in doubt, fit a new bearing.
