Do you think it would be worth trying to do my corner weights using 4x300KG parcel scales. four of these seems pretty reasonable price. However would they be accurate enough and would 300Kg be enough for the front end of a 8v nova that weighs about 720kg~?

Looks like these would be fine. I see no reason why not. I just dont know how the distribution is. If the front is 50% of the total you will be over range. Need to speak to someone who has done it and has some rough corner settings.

My Nova weighs in at a bit under 550kg, and shows around 200kg on each of the front wheels, so you should just about get away with these scales on a heavier Nova.

Don't forget that you need an absolutely perfectly level surface for the car/scales to sit on, as these scales don't have adjustable-height feet like a proper racing corner weight set-up would have. Or of course you could engineer some means of levelling it all up.

In terms of accuracy they would be fine.

Also loading the scales would take care too...

I did have my xe wieghed this way at knockhill (810kg) with roll cage etc. I think the front was just over 600 kg in total so a 1.6 should be fine.

agreed. Theyre less likely to tolerate being bumped or loaded off centre. Would need to lower the car down on to then gently.

that was a concern i had, would lifting it up and down be a PITA to get the suspension settled again for an accurate readings. I suppose a roll on roll off arrangement would be the best but is it going to twist/buckle the scales.

Then again making adjustments to the coil overs with a wheel on/without jacking up wont be easy either

what sort of weight distribution is a nova front to back? 60-40 split or so?

If it's a one off job just go to somewhere with some scales. Or find someone on here that has a set and would help you. On my autograss nova the weight on the front wheels is around 220 kg. that is a stripped out 1300.

what sort of price is a one off job.

Id like to think id do it more than once. im forever changing springs and suspension components ect so the sooner I buy it the more chance i have of justifying the outline costs.

I'd look out for a second hand set of proper ones if that's the case
