Is it correct that the mechanical fuel pump on a 12st carb engine runss at 3psi, and this is enough to fuel bike carbs?,

ive noticed there a bit up and down with there flow pattern, sometimes pushing alot, sometimes not.
i dont know if there reliable enough to use with bike carbs/twin carbs.

if its for the 1.2, it might be ok, with the return line plumbed in.
anything much bigger cc wise, and you might get starvation issues.

those mechanical pumps are the same for upto the 1.6 carb models, maybe even the same one for the older 1.8 too.
depending on what engine your using, bike carbs might be too thirsty for it.

might be worth trying it first tho, to see how it fairs, before you spend the money on a low pressure pump, swirl pot, and a pressure regulator

Well the standard pump is fine with my 1.3 and twin 40s (as seems to be the case for most other people I think), it does have a pressure regulator between it and the carbs though.

A new standard pump will fuel for 150bhp with a regulator between it and the carbs

Regulator is in the post 24hour delivery, will see how it goes.

Mechanical pump will be fine as I had my old 1.4 running bike carbs off one, I fit a filter king to get the psi needed.

Just make sure your jets are right it the bike carbs. Give Tom Reid a pm as he knows his stuff re bike carbs ;)

This was mine btw:
