Hi,

The gear change in My car is very sloppy from side to side and very long from 1st - 2nd, 3rd - 4th. Will fitting a rose jointed linkage reduce these movements, where can I buy a quick shift kit etc... :?:

HELP PLEASE :o

CP can make quick shifts that reduce the throw. Speak to him.

With regard to rose jointed, griffith (spelling) engineering make a brilliant linkage.

getting a new std linkage (try carquip in yellow pages) will solve the problem, but sticking new rubbers in will help.

The slop ( side to side) is due to the gear shift ball and the linkage pivot where it is attached next to the rear engine mount being worn.

Throw ( fore and aft) distance is governed by the length of main link arm on the gear box side of the pivot. The longer it is relative to the part the other side of the pivot the shorter the throw. If you see what i mean

Me and my trusty assistant modified a Veccy linkage by adding a piece which shortened the throw by about 20%.
