Hi,

I've just bought a new Nova and it was registered in March 1986, but I need to know when the car was actually manufactured.

Does anyone know how to find out when the Nova was manufactured?

Can you tell from the chassis/VIN number?

Thanks

Dan

You can tell from the vin, but also look at some of the plastic moulding on the interior, they have a month/year code moulded on them which also satisfy your curiosity.

Your chassis number is VSX000093G401**** which indicates it was manufactured in 1986.

Not exactly. If the chassis number is 401xxxx, means below 20000, it was definitely manufactured in 1985.
A whole production year always goes from end of August to End of July. Means a "G" in VIN stands for an '86 model, means from end of August '85 to July '86

Thanks all for the help and advice
I've got a few ideas in the pipeline thinking if the car was manufactured in 85 it will comply with historic rallying regs so my plans were to restore and have a go at this if not I'm going to keep it all original and have a few days out

if your building it for historic rallying best to build it to the original group a sport manual

also think one of my mates has a proper pilbeam cage sitting that came out his old factory gte rally car. if your interested i will find out if its still spare
