so my 14nz/12st engine runs but not massively well, has to be left to warm up or if you touch the throttle it dies also when you drive it it just feels like its almost revving through its self (hard to explain that's the best I can do lol)

now I remember when I first started building this engine some people suggested it may need to be run on super unleaded due to comp ratio being so high. is that a load of bull shizzle?

if I cant get a clear answer I will just go buy a can of s/u and stick the fuel feed and return lines in the can and see whats. what.

ignition timing is spot on by the way .

What is the ignition timing spot on to? All gm figures are for leaded and haynes says retard it a little. What sort of dizzy is fitted?.

It could be many things. Fuel type wouldn't affect it at low load/idle.
Sounds like basic tune and carburation issue

I can see high comp needs different fuel.

Possible choke sticking maybe?

Using differant fuel is to stop detonatation, wouldnt help with what your fault is.

Sounds like it might be lean

I would say the timing/carb is out of tune.. maybe try getting it set up.
