Whilst my gearbox is out of the car, I want to replace the clutch release bearing.

What would people recommend, a genuine GM part? Or do I have any other options that anyone knows of e.g. uprated?

I also need to replace the seal (seals?) that sits behind the release bearing guide sleeve (I can put up a photo if needed) - it's where the gearbox input shaft comes through into the bellhousing.

I'm guessing it's called an input shaft seal, but I may be wrong?

Where's the best place to get one of these from?

Thanks.

I get my seals of eBay, never had a problem with them.

Thanks Gary, I'm guessing you buy the gearbox rebuild kits then, rather than individual seals?

It varies, I needed the diff seals too so got all 3.

Gary - or anyone else who may know. I bought a gasket and seal kit off EBAY, and it may be me being an idiot, but I can't see how the input shaft seal fits?

These are the seals I got;

The bottom seal in the photo seems to be the right diameter, but when I put the housing for the clutch release bearing on, it doesn't sit flush (it sticks out 10mm or more);

Am I missing something? Or have I been sent the wrong part?

Oops, sorry, missed off some of the photos;

Or am I mixed up totally and the input shaft seal sits on the other side of the gearbox casing - i.e there is just that 'O' ring seal behind the clutch release bearing support shaft?

it fits inside the metal tube with 3 flanges on. push the old one out and the new one in....

Thanks Gary - I had wondered if that was the case, but it didn't look like it would fit. I will look again!!

Problem solved, they sent me an input shaft seal for an F17 in error......there should be one in the post tomorrow for the F13.

My seal is weeping, but oil in the bell house leaking out the inspection cover. None near the clutch.
I am hoping to get another couple of events before the box is coming off. Anyone had experience of this seal leaking bad enough to contaminate the clutch?
