hi, my eldest daughter did some housekeeping on the family pc & decided to kill off loads of old pdf files, most of which were actually my reference material.....

can anyone recommend a decent free recovery tool to find them & hopefully save them

thankyou

clever sod. it was technical parts catalogues with decent info for gm engines. it would have helped solve the machining pistons issue that royston is having

If its in the recycle bin the. You can restore. If its not there its gone forever and only csi will find it when they look for the iffy porn

i have some old pdf files if you want them?

there are lots of free programs which will easily restore deleted files even if theyre not in the recycle bin.

For future reference, I've used ZAR before on a few computers with good results. Its not free, but it's worth buying.

Files don't physically get deleted off media when you delete stuff, the address just gets marked as available for overwrite (unless you've used a proper dshredding application). So as long as you've not done a great deal with the computer in the meantime you can normally get most stuff back.
