Had a dial gauge for ages, finally want to use it and got no idea how. Just can't work out how either of the gauges mount to the bar!

Anyone got pics of theirs set up? Can't find a manual for it either.

no where on the back of the gauge to connect to ?
if not, it looks like you might be able to grab onto the outer casing, at the very top edge of the needle.
these might help you figure something out.

The 2 pins in the box with the 2 dti's have a dovetail type slot in them that slides onto a corrosponding dove tail on the clock and there should be a thumb screw to tighten it all up . The pin then mounts in hole on the clamp on the arm . If the plunger type dti has just a lug on the back with a hole in then a m5 cap head and a nut to tighten it up will do as a mounting pin. Or clamp on the shaft as per the second picture above ^^

Mine are at work so cant get any pics but I hope that makes sense

Spot on worked a treat. Imagine it'll be something like this for checking tdc and cam lift.

Yes, you might find the finger DTI more sensitive.......

you will struggle finding TDC with the head on as the sparkplug holes are quite far away from the crown and the angle is such that it wants to bend the gauge more than push it.

Perfect if you're doing it with the head off though!

20XE so the spark plugs are straight down! :) although found what you're saying as trying to get it to read the lifter for setting the cam timing and struggling
