I was given a 1.3sb as a spare years ago as the owner said it suddenly lost oil pressure so he removed it as he was waiting to put in a 1.4 anyway.

I decided evenutually to look at the engine, firstly I removed the oil pump and to me it looks ok and turns freely.

I have also removed the ends etc nearest the pump and they don't look scored but a second opinion from someone with more knowledge is always appreciated.

The oil sender connection is broken so I wonder if that is actually what caused it. He said the oil light came on so He just removed it immediately, perhpas I am very lucky!

From the pics I would just put a new pump on and try it I think you might be lucky

Looks OK to me at first glance, is there any pitting or metal fragments embedded in the bearing material?

The crank mains and big ends look OK, not scored and oil staining looks OK.

I am just about to strip my sport engine for a rebore, I hope the bottom end looks like yours!!

Thanks, it's all clean and looks good, I can't see anything wrong at all with the pump, I reckon it was just the gauge that died.

I might renew the pump if it's cheap just incase before I put it all back together.

One point.....I was doing this myself and didn't have the strength to lift the engine on a bench or anything so......there is a lot of oil spillage!

I carried my 13sb all built up threw the house when I rebuilt mine lol, I would replace the main and big end bearing while your there to as there dirt cheap ;) and just put a new oil pump in for piece of mind ;)

bearings look great.
impossible to tell how good the oil pump is, but going by the bearings there cant be that much wrong with it.
