I have just completed a thousand miles of successful driving in my xe.

After the gearbox breaking and taking the oil pump, then I managed to bend valves, eventually with a lot of learning and patience, got it to going again. After 100 miles the replacement gearbox bearing decided to break up so it was gearbox off and so on again!

I very nearly gave up and it did take me more than three months to do it all, it was anything buit straightforward for me, but after losing the will and leaving the thread, jim bob mcgrew and vx kev kept encouraging me and advising me and I have to say honestly I would have dumped the car without this encouragement so, Thank you very much.

I am very pleased and assume that after 1000 miles of driving and a succesful check of ll fluids, it should be fine. (yes I have redlined it too just to check lol)

Good going and as they say "every nova nowadays is a work in progress" but hopefully you'll have some reliable motoring now. Can't wait to have mine finished and put 1000 miles on it.

Goods new that mate, glad it seems to be all ok having covered that mileage with no other issues.
Every days a school day so just keep at it with the repairs yourself, best way to learn is by getting your hands dirty! :thumb:

Well done, it's nice getting hassle free motoring in a nova when you've had loads of issues ;)

1k, plus a redline or 2, and still ok - good stuff :thumb:

hats off to you marc for keeping your cool, after all the crap you had to deal with it.

i would have probably lost the plot myself, and thrown several molotov's at it, and watched it burn, lol
