Corsa internal shifter vs Cav shifter

Hi all,

I have a Cav internal shifter and I wanted to make it lool like the corsa one with the cut outs http://www.pngclub.com/forum/images/icons/icon13.png bad idea, now it looks rubbish, I have the chance of getting a corsa one but I know the linkage is different (ones male and the other female) but can the Cav internals be taken out the case and I put it in the corsa casing with the cut outs?

I don't think I can but some cavs had the basket cages so find one of them and swop it
