A c14se

Think sbd do one for the 14xe so they can run lighter pistons with a shorter compression height.
Have you looked at pistons with a shorter compression height instead?

D15B2 Honda Conrod is 4.25mm longer. You must change the small end bronze guide from 19mm to 18, machine the big end from 45mm to 46, and grind 0.2mm from the thickness of the big end.
We made this things, and the engine run very good.
If you use z16let pistons that has 19mm pin.

I'm trying to run a 1.6 piston with a 1.4 stroke but the c14 Pistons a are 4mm taller which should the Pistons sit short of the deck. I have to stick to standard internals but can overbore trying to stay away from paying for a set of +1mm c14se Pistons if possible

how much are +1mm pistons?

the main problem is that iirc the 1.2 & 1.4 later generation engines have the same stroke, thus the rods should be the same.

the 1.6 uses a shorter rod, and the 1.8 has exactly the same rod fitted, but with a shorter piston.

personally I'd be looking at taking some off the piston,, or a sandwich plate or if you wanted rough, 2 head gaskets....

Its the crown I need to be higher the c14se is 32mm the c16se is 28mm so I need to increase the rod length to have the piston at the top of the bore.

how much are +1mm pistons?

They are around the £200-£300 mark Stuart

I have 78mm c14se pistons if you need it.

Tbh that hat sounds like a good price, I mean take all that pissing about with the Honda rod, lots of machining and messing about would probably cost the upper end of that £300.

Sometimes the avoiding action costs more time and money than the short solution lol

is it safe to deck a block 4mm + ?

shorter head bolts needed, or maybe fat washers ? (dont know much about that)
probably an adjustable cam pulley too, to take out any change in position

What's the big end width of standard rods out of curiosity?

grassers skim massively & use std bolts iirc

how much can you hacksaw off a block before sh1t hits the fan ? 10mm ok ?

mowgli

basically, as much as you need to, to make the pistons stick up to the right height.

its worth sticking a venereal gauge down the stud holes to ensure they don't bottom out, but that's pretty much it

its the cam timing that needs sorting out.

cool, cheers for the info :thumb: my theory on the 1.2 hybrid engine required chopping about 7mm off (would take bloody ages in a machine shop ?)

apologies for hi-jacking thread gareth.

are you messing about with the 'venereal gauge' mo ?

gauge comes out reading 'std warning - not fit for track use' lol

it really wouldn't take that much work to mill 7mm off, redrill the stud holes & re-tap the threads.. its just down to finding a decent machine shop who won't charge the earth to do it.

the only difference between tuners & the rest of the population is that they are brave enough to have a go.

(except Reg & Al, who sit about waiting for a large box from germany then follow the instructions [allegedly])

Just need to be coy about hitting any oil ways etc when ripping that much off. Should be ok but you don't want to be risking too much in machining a cheap block lol
