webers vs bike carbs

Been looking more and more as i want something to make the loon sound like a animal :D


Bike carbs are getting more expensive now so is there any point going this route over a twin carb set up?


I would want either of them to be checked over and set up and chooned by someone in the know aswell. So is there a saving in servicable parts between them?

Bike carbs work if you know someone who can set them up for use on a car engine but they are harder to work on and tune them as excess to the jets is under the carbs and means removing them every time you what to adjust or change the jets.
Weber's can be adjusted in place with easy on top excess to the jets.
I'm changing from Bike carb set up to Webers now as there is no one in Czech who can help me set them up correct out here.

Webers bike carbs are designed to operate at a lot higher rpm than a road engine and so the air speeds to get them working correctly are massively different, not saying they carnt work but you need someone who knows what there doing to get them right, webers also look better imo

Bike carbs....cheaper than webers. Easier too setup and floating chokes. Gives better all round power conpared too webers aswel. Just dont look as retro.

Bike carbs are for bikes ;) but that's just my opinion as I've had several weber fuelled engines

Just bought a set of fireblade carbs for mine. I've had webers before and fancied a change this time. When I'm ready im going to take them through to Boggs to be set up and again after their on the car to go on the rollers.

Sorry Philip I must disagree with you they are not easier too setup as to get to the jets when fitted in a Nova you must remove the carbs from the engine why is that easier that just undoing a single wing nut cover in place to get to the jets ?!.
As for better power all round please give the evidences of this, a back to back test on a dyno using the same engine but a run with bike carbs and a run with Weber DCOE's or do not say things which you can not prove.

not a big fan of twin carbs myself.

love the sound, and they help with flow at mid to high rpm alot, but for the usual £600-900+ price they cost all in (both carbs, gaskets, trumpets, linkages, throttle/choke cables, fuel system changes, RR setup, venturi/jet replacements) they come across to me as a huge waste of money, for an extra bit of horse.

can get yourself a LET engine for the same money lol
