Hi all,
Firstly I want to wire a led for a diagnostics light on my xe... obv I cant just wire it straight to the wire, but I was wondering if someone could tell me what I need to put in line, i.e a resistor etc.
oh and I also would like to wire it up with a stich so it isn't permanently on haha.

Secondly I would like to fit a cutoff switch for security and have it hidden, you know the big red key thingy lol.. does anyone have a simple way of wiring it without too much splicing wires...

If anyone could make a simple diagram that would be amazing!

cheers
Alex

for the LED, just have an easy life and buy a 12V compatible one (has the resistor built in) and a suitable switch... OK you'll pay over the odds but just buy them from your local maplins. Failing that, if you fancy a laugh buy from CPC farnell, will be cheaper but mild faff.

The big red key switches want to go as close to the battery as possible for an easy life, but lots of wiring diagrams on google :)

Oh ok thanks I didn't realise you could get a 12v compatible LED! cheers :)

I have seen a couple of diagrams I was just wondering if there was a simple way like battery to switch, switch to whatever is connected to the battery?

Just cut the big red wire and put connectors on either end that connect through the switch.

you could make it really nice with a hole by the battery bay just above the alternator area.

as its is for security you would have to open bonnet though....

other than hang that you will need some new cable to feed inside the car.

you could always drill hole up by wipers like rally spec but it would be on show then.

as I remember don't switch it on/off with engine running unless emergency !

their should be some details that come with the packaging tho.

this what you looking at?

i remember fitting one in the boot near the battery and one on the dash of my mk2 escort years ago.

the one on the dash had a resistor if you had to switch it off in an emergency and the one in the boot for security just had through connectors on it.

plenty of pics under Google images if you have a quick search.
