is there an easy way to do this without a vice ?

i dont know what torque the circular layout of bolts are, but i was thinking to stick a thick glove on, and grip the crown wheel best i can, and a clean smack to a spanner to crack the bolts off.

reckon that would work ?

could probably get away with sliding a bar through the core of the diff, for resistance, but dont really fancy this, as it might damage the internal diff gears.

another option, i have a pair of plastic ended G-clamps (the woodworker style ones)

could double clamp the wheel down onto something.

Impact gun would be a nice alternative, but if you don't have a vice I assume there's no access to one of those!

can you put it back in the gearbox then engage two gears at once?

this. or use your glove to jam between the CW&P (remove glove from hand first)
