Right my original plans for my nova was an xe with webbers, my mate has a 2.3 turbo saab in for scrap so i could get it cheap cheap.

Pro's con's of the saab motor ?

2.3's turbo's are less reliable than 2.0, look through ebay spares or repairs always loads of broken 2.3's

We have a 93 convertible 2.0 turbo 185hp LPT great engine

A lot of modification needed to get that Saab engine in though is it not?

Keeping an eye on this one as I've been contemplating on a possible Saab engine too :-)

I've got a Saab lump in mk2 Astra I have 6mm clearance between the pulleys and the chassis leg
transfer that to a nova I'd say you gona need to chop out all of the drivers leg to fit it in

See this months Total Vauxhall for the Saab engine guide.

While it maybe more installation work, the engines (B207 anyway) are fairly bullet proof and easily choonable with the Trionic suite etc. plus newer etc so likely to be in betetr condition than an XE or LET

I've been out in dgbnova ' s saab powered astra and it's a very quick car but it gets the power down well and dosnt spin like a maniac

My main interest would be weight differences; balls to speculative condition based on age - think about working from a proper foundation.

Seems to be a few people having oil pressure issues on the saab lumps, my brother included. Im sure you would probably be rebuilding it before fitting it anyway, but its worth being aware of.

Whereas XE oil pump pressure just fails completely when a gnat's pube comes between the bore & relief valve or the cog shatters into a million pieces

Not sure of the amount but the b204's are heavier than an Xe that's for dam sure

Probably lighter than a GM V6 though

Don't know on that one never handled one of them

Just for the sheer grief of a converted Nova running a turbo'd non-GM engine, I'd choose a std XE on SFi all day long.
