I've just had some T**T in a white van shunt me up the rear end, damage aint bad just taken a load of paint of me back bumper and cracked it down the side a little bit. I've never claimed on someone else's insurance before and because I 'forgot' to add legal cover to my insurance I've been told that I need to claim off the insurance company meself ! what i'm worried about is they'll send me to some bodgit spray painter who'll just blow in the marks and not fix the bumper back on properly. Its gonna cost about 200 to fix and I dont wanna get knocked by the insurance company for a 'sprayover'. what shall I do send em a letter and just wait for them to respond (if they do this side of the millenium) and then pretend I've got a solicitor ?

it's your choice where it's repaired... just go to your local vaux dealer for a quote... did u get the vans ins details?

yeah i've got all the details of the van and all his insurance details. Will vauxhall re-fit and spray an abyss bumper though ? Should I just give em the one quote ?then again if they give me a stupidly high quote then i can just pocket the money and go somewhere else can't I ?

Get a quote from vauxhall and a few other garages, the Third Party's Insurers will choose the cheapest and should send you an interim cheque for the damage cause as long as the driver of the other vehicle admits liability.

Was there any injury?? You do realise that whiplash can be caused at 5mph.

Nah they wont mate cos I'm third party fire and theft and cos I aint got no legal cover my insurance company wont do nothing about it :(

There is only one specialist garage near me that does bodykits etc so I'll just go to them cos I aint gonna trust just anyone with it. At the end of the day the tit shouldn't have rammed into me so its up to his insurance company to pay out however much it takes to get it back to how it was before - or is that not how it always work out? :?

The third party have a duty to provide you with indemnity. In other words, put it back the way it was before the accident.

It dont matter if you aint told your insurers about it as it is merely cosmetic. If they say they ain't paying. I will make them!!!
