What engine is it, as I took the cat of my 1.4sri and never had a problem it increased power and run sweet as a nut from mot to mot

Not on a pre 92 (j reg) petrol? All diesels that had them from factory will fail without one though.

Only problem with that is it's not a direct flow so would not make any difference unless you cut it in half and welded a straight pope through the centre

If it was a 1400/1600 MPi do it. Otherwise don't waste your time/effort doing it to a 1200/1400 SPi.
