it is completely useless for road only, as you still have to have working cables etc.

Basically, where the ratchet pawl normally pivots at its centre, shift the pivot to the end (opposite end to the teeth) and modify the rod to actuate on where the original pivot was so as the button pushes the teeth in rather than pulling them out. Hope this makes some sort of sense

I'm assuming the OP wants to fit a hydraulic one.

to get one to work properly involves converting the rear brakes to a single line design, then putting a girling type master cylinder in-line that the handbrake is connected to.. this is the traditional mk2 escort style of handbrake setup..

I don't see why it is 100% necessary on a fwd club rally car though, because the braking effort needed to get the rears to lock up is a lot lower without the power going thru them.

as for making your handbrake lever fly off, the above comment seems about right, but the car still has to be road legal.
