Hi,

Has anyone on here got a guide/link to a thread that shows standard TCAs being modified to take rose joints instead of the standard bush end?

Also, does anyone know generally what size joints are used?

Thanks

I sold a pair recently that I bought the kit for & had welded up/converted by a friend.

Whilst seemingly simple, you need an insert made for the rosejoint to thread into. Included in the kit I had was a nice machined billet block profiled to fit within the shape of the opened TCA. One side was L/hand threaded for some reason also. You can also see in the pic that you'll need some spacers/sleeves made up the position the joint on the TCA bolt.

The joints will need to be suitable for chassis/suspension use as opposed to just regular rosejoints.

Basically it is just a case of lopping the bush ends off, welding in the threaded pieces & topping off with a strengthening plate across the TCA & thread in the joints with locknuts. I just set mine up to the standard 'bushed' length to a jig I measured from before the TCA's were cut. Well worth doing imo.

You will probably need new joints every 100 miles lol

I did thousands of miles on mine, no wear occurred.

My kit was bought from TAS who are now known as Compbrake. You'll have to search/find out if they still produce them.

Done 1000's on my conversion also, must make sure you have properly strengthened the front end though as it caused havoc with mine when it wasn't, metal splits everywhere!

Sorry I can not remember what size I use.

If I can remember I will contact you, all I can say I went as big as I could for strength as it's a rally car and high quality.

That's an informative guide in the link, but looking at the pics, the threaded insert going into the arm doesnt look very substantial to me, much like some of the home-made ones I've seen where people have just used some threaded plate to close the end off. The ones I had used a billet block of steelover an inch/5 deep giving far more support & strength to the rosejoint/arm interface.

Some I have seen only look to be M12 or 1/2" but I'd advise M16 or 5/8" if possible
