Interesting reading. It also highlights some dire attempts at spelling from dealers presumably. I never knew you could spell Cavalier so many different ways.

3x M3's, 2x Fiat Uno Turbo's, 4x Escort RS Turbo's, 2x Escort RS2000(Hopefully the crappy Mk5 version), 13x Fiesta XR2's, 2x Nissan Skylines, 1x Ascona, 1x Manta GTE, 1x Monza, 31x 205 GTi's, 4x 205 Rallye's, 2x Renault 5 GT Turbo's, 3x Rover SD1's, 5x Toyota Celica GT4's, 5x Astra GTE's, 5x Astra GSi's, 3x Calibra Turbo's, 2x Calibre's!?!, 1x Nova GTE, 1x Nova Sola, 10x Nova SR's, over 560x Golf GTi's! and strangely a V8 Astra are some of the ones I spotted.

Makes sad reading, but those left more valuable.

I went to a breakers in Hampshire during scrappage as I spotted they were breaking an MG Midget and I was restoring one. I made an apppointment to remove some parts and on arrival they drove it round to me. It was immaculate and freshly restored to an extremely high standard.

Whilst I stripped it of everything possible a guy approached me and said he worked at the restorers and it had only been done the previous year for the owners 17yr old daughters first car; money no object! The 17yr old daughter hated it so put it in against a new Mini.

Looking at the list it is shocking what is on there! There were many of the ex scrappage cars stored on an airfield with keys in because breakers couldnt cope - not a clue if they are still there.

i would like to point out that a main dealers round here was selling of the car that got taken in as px to the smaller car traders, and not scrapped. not sure if this was going on else were, but nothing really got crushed as such, just sold on

The Nova Base could have been a 1.0 or 1.2 so not necessarily a Sport. Could be a saloon or more door to ;)

There was two BMW 1 series in there I spied, a car that could only have been 4-5 years old max. I am sure they would be worth a lot more than the scrappage deposit gave!

Probably admin error. I suspect they have inputted the new car rather than the one being scrapped

It's a fair size of list wasn't expecting that tbh. A lot of very cool cars scrapped.

Tbh I don't want to read it, as that scrapage scheme was imo the biggest load of toss ever, and has made me never want to buy a new car EVER! So many good extremely clean classic cars got scrapped not just junk cars, luckily I save my nova from that fate, as the owner was going to scrap it in for a new Corsa, but changed his mind when his neighbour persuaded him to buy a 2nd hand car instead.

the scrappage £2k was £1000 from gov't and £1000 from the manufacturer of the purchased car. To claim the £1000 from gov you needed a certificate of destruction so the only way a local dealer was selling them on ws if they were worth over £1k (some where) as it was better to recoup that than claim £1k back....

i was at Vw at the time and the mechanics there had a field day swapping interiors, airbags, alloys, stereo's etc before the cars went to scrap! A vr6 mk3 was traded with a Schrich manifold and leather recaro's..... Neither were on the car when the transporter turned up to collect!
