View Full Version : Would this flow okay?
Hi all, just browsing the net and came across this..

My question is, would this type of induction system flow okay?
Dan.
It'll flow lots of lovely HOT badly filtered air into the engine..... Do you hate your engine?
Yeah I understand it will draw in warm air but is there any advantage to routing the inlet pipe work like this rather than a y shape intake hose?
Is there an advantage having lots of metered air like that stores up? Throttle response etc? Like a SFI box on a 20xe.

looks to me like it was done that way due to limited bay-space ?
the standard designs probably better.
Yeah it was by the looks of things but mantzel do a similar mod for the omega using the original air box. There must be some power to gain or they wouldn't sell it surely?
That has to he hands down the worst intake setup ive ever seen. First of all the filter is resting on a rad hose lol. God knows what he was thinking with that intake pipe! Most of the air will initially flow straight past the 2 pipes leading to the inlet mani and fit the wall at the far end and bounce back creating turbulent air. Depending on engine spec I'd estimate a loss of 4 to 7bhp.
I did wonder, so a smooth curve would be better?

Just looks like an attempt to 'fit a cone filter at any cost' to me.

would probably be pretty good if the 2 intake pipes dropped straight down through the plastic arch cover. (less bends and cold air)
short pipes like that usually develop a few more horse, but at the cost of loosing torque, so not always a good thing
