What ones will fit an e16se mine is very high compression and the starter don't want to turn over more than once lol

Heres a vid, does look like the battery is flat but it's hooked up to my other car so should be fine

bloody hell, what combo of parts have you put together ?

any idea what comp its putting out ?

Could just be that its an old tired one, and a new standard one would be more than fine.

sometimes rusty / corroded connections can have that effect. but its more than likely the CR if its high as a kite

From the project thread, I can see something on a carb and has an oem(ish) dizzy..... That's not going to be running a crazy compression ratio IMHO.

Battery voltage is colapsing to almost zero as the dash is dying. Probably an earth, started or POS jump leads.

gave the battery a deep cycle charge, spun over faster but still poor. trying 20xe starter on it tomorrow (if it even fits) also trying a transit battery too. not a clue on compression but it is insane

looking at your project thread, im gonna take a wild guess, and say that the re-bore takes the e16se from 1598cc to about 1650cc, and that the hefty skim makes the chamber about 150cc

1650 / 150 = 11:1 CR (give or take a bit), so fairly high.

what starter motor are you using ?

not sure if a big block starter will fit ?, as the blocks and flywheels are a different size.

id go for an x14xe or x16xe if i were you, as they run the ' X ' type compression ratio. 10:1-11.5:1 - super unleaded and will be capable of turning what you have (not sure if they fit tho ?)

Nah this isn't really much to do with high comp, my Isuzu diesel engine is 24:1 - no problems starting.

Hmm, I got a 16v one on there, will see if the bigger battery cures it

Remove your earth and clean it up on both the gearbox and chassis, clean the lead up its self, clean the battery to starter lead up. Try that. If it doesn't help connect a jump lead from the negative of the battery to a clean spot on the engine or box, worth a try.

my Isuzu diesel engine is 24:1

what the hell... crazy.
must have strong rods in those diesel lumps

diesel is a compression ignition engine... they run 20-25:1 usually lol

Starter has died a death haha either my redtop one fits or I'm buying a new one

i know the heat caused from the compression is the ignitor on diesels, but had no idea how high it was.

is that why they kick out more torque than petrols ?

it should be a little chipper when it gets going and the carbs are setup. atleast 130 donkies i woulda thought

Yeah should be a laugh if I can get it going haha, diesels have more torque because the burn period of the fuel is longer btw. Also redtop starter didn't fit and I was given some 1.2 ones for free so will feed back how it goes, will probably end up cooking them too

diesel afterburner lol (cool, didnt know that)

you might get lucky if one of thems from a 16v.

i think the 8v ones hit the flywheel.

It was a x16xel one I blew up lol

double check all your main earth connections while your there, just incase its not getting maximum b00st, as that XEL motor shoulda been up to the job.

- battery to body earth strap
- gearbox casing to inner wing earth strap
- head/inlet to alternator bracket earth lead

i usually go overboard with mine when i have issues, and wire brush both sides of the contacts, and slop copper grease on every mating face

sod it, hand crank
